The Nurture Room

A calmer space, with a little more support.

Some children are based within Nurture, while others can access the room when they need a quieter environment, additional guidance or more focused one-to-one support. Its flexible approach gives children time, reassurance and individual attention when they need it.

The right support.
At the right time.

Every child develops differently. At East Staffs, support starts with understanding the individual child, working closely with families and adapting nursery experiences around what will help them feel secure, included and able to make progress.

Individual support

Know the child.
Build from there.

Practitioners use their knowledge of each child to understand their communication, interests, development and individual needs, then adapt experiences and support accordingly.

Nurture provision

East Staffs also has its dedicated Nurture Room, providing a calmer environment for children who benefit from more individual support or quieter space.

01 Observe

Understand what a child needs.

Close relationships and regular observation help practitioners recognise children's strengths, development and areas where additional support may be helpful.

02 Partner

Work closely with families.

Parents and carers bring invaluable knowledge of their child. Sharing information helps nursery and home work towards the same priorities.

03 Adapt

Shape support around the child.

Activities, routines and environments can be adapted to help children participate comfortably and access nursery life in ways that work for them.

04 Collaborate

Bring the right people together.

Where appropriate, the nursery can work alongside external professionals so specialist advice and nursery support can complement one another.

Everyday care

The practical details
matter too.

Dependable opening hours, nutritious food and clear communication all help nursery life work smoothly for children and the people caring for them at home.

Food & nutrition

Healthy choices.
Part of everyday life.

Meals and snacks form part of the nursery day, giving children opportunities to enjoy nutritious food, develop independence and spend relaxed time together around the table.

Dietary needs

Allergies, dietary requirements and individual needs can be discussed with the nursery team so appropriate arrangements can be made for each child.

East Staffs fees & funding

Clearer costs.
Fewer surprises.

Childcare costs can feel complicated when funded hours, additional attendance and everyday nursery costs are brought together.

East Staffs uses the Tiny Toez Staffordshire fee structure. This overview explains the main elements before you use the calculator below.

30
Funded hours

Eligible working families

Eligible working parents may receive up to 30 funded hours, subject to government rules.

15
Universal entitlement

All 3 & 4 year olds

All 3 and 4 year olds can access 15 funded hours under the universal entitlement.

£2
Tax-Free Childcare

Added for every £8

Eligible families can receive a government top-up towards approved childcare costs.

01Funded childcare

Making funded hours work around your pattern.

Funded entitlement can reduce the number of childcare hours that need to be paid for.

  • 15 or 30 funded-hour entitlements may apply
  • Funding can be combined with additional paid hours
  • The nursery can explain how funding is applied to your attendance pattern
Funded hours cover eligible childcare. Other nursery costs can still apply.
02Everyday extras
£19.60full day
£13.00half day

These are the estimated meals, activities and consumables amounts used by the East Staffs calculator.

These are estimated additional nursery costs, not the total price of a full or half day.
03Additional childcare

More chargeable hours can mean a lower hourly rate.

The Staffordshire fee structure uses sliding hourly bands for childcare remaining after applicable funding is deducted.

From£16.74reducing to £8.70/hr
The applicable band depends on the number of chargeable childcare hours.
Staffordshire fee structure

Additional childcare hourly rates.

These are the bands used by the East Staffs estimator below.

1–20paid hours£16.74/ hour
21–30paid hours£11.72/ hour
31–40paid hours£9.80/ hour
40+paid hours£8.70/ hour
i
A note about stretched funding

Government entitlements are normally quoted over 38 weeks. Where a stretched arrangement is available, fewer funded hours can be used each week across more weeks of the year. The estimator below uses the existing Tiny Toez stretched-hours assumptions when 15 or 30 funded hours are selected.
