For Crystal Cuthbertson, the most rewarding part of Early Years is watching children grow in confidence, discover what they can do and develop the skills and relationships that stay with them as they grow.
With almost 25 years of experience in Early Years, Crystal brings a wealth of knowledge to Westfield alongside a genuine enthusiasm for getting to know children and their families as individuals.
She is passionate about creating an environment where children can become increasingly independent, build friendships and enjoy learning through experiences that feel meaningful to them. Crystal also places great importance on continued professional development, using new learning to support and strengthen the wider nursery team.

Children arrive at nursery with different personalities, experiences, strengths and needs. Our role is to understand the individual child and help them feel secure, included and able to take part in nursery life.

Westfield provides additional support for children learning English as an additional language, helping children take part, communicate and build confidence.

The nursery shares its site with a children's centre, helping families connect with wider professional support, including services such as speech and language therapy.

🌸 Growing Sustainability, One Bouquet at a Time! 🌿
We’re so excited to be partnering with our wonderful local florists H & R Florists and Flower Lane Florist Stoke to help reduce waste and give beautiful flowers a second life.
Rather than seeing these blooms go to waste, these wonderful florists have agreed to provide us with regular donations to use throughout our nursery, creating exciting, hands-on sensory experiences for our children. From exploring colours, textures and fragrances to inspiring imaginative play, these flowers will bring nature into our learning in meaningful ways.
This partnership reflects our commitment to sustainability, teaching our children the importance of caring for our environment while making the most of the resources around us.

You may notice that our social media posts will look a little different going forward. From now on, the photos we share will be faceless, with children’s faces either not shown or carefully obscured.
This decision has been made with our children’s privacy and safety in mind. As technology continues to evolve, including the rapid development of AI image tools, we want to take every possible step to protect the identities of the children in our care.

Keeping children safe in the sun helps protect their skin now and in the future 💛
👶 Babies under 6 months
Keep out of direct sunlight
Use shade, wide‑brimmed hats and loose, long‑sleeved clothing
Sunscreen is not recommended – speak to a health professional if unsure
🧒 Babies over 6 months, toddlers & children
✅ Use SPF 30+ (or higher) sunscreen
✅ Apply generously and reapply every 2 hours, and after swimming
✅ Wear hats, sunglasses and protective clothing
✅ Encourage play in the shade, especially between 11am–3pm
✅ Keep children hydrated with regular drinks
🌻 Remember: Sunburn in childhood increases the risk of skin damage later in life.
