At Tiny Toez we recognise the importance of early identification and intervention for children with additional needs. We are fully committed to inclusion — providing an environment where every child is supported to reach their full potential, sharing the same opportunities and overcoming challenges together.
Our SENDCo
Each Tiny Toez setting has a named Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo). Please ask at your nursery for the name of your setting's SENDCo.
The SENDCo works closely with all staff to ensure everything needed is in place, with plans and records always shared with parents and carers.
The SENDCo oversees planning for children with SEND, ensuring individual education programmes are produced to cater for each child's unique learning style.
The SENDCo liaises with other professionals regarding children with SEN and works closely with outside agencies to support transitions into school.
The SENDCo attends all relevant training as required to ensure the highest standard of support is always available.
Statement of Intent
Tiny Toez is committed to the inclusion of children with special educational needs. We provide an environment in which all children are supported to reach their full potential. Children with SEND are encouraged to share the same opportunities as their peers, with adaptations made wherever needed to help every child thrive.
If at any time a parent or carer is unhappy with the support given to them and their child, they are welcome to follow our Complaints Procedure. All children are also given a full settling-in period when joining the nursery, tailored to their individual needs.
Our Aims
- To have regard for the DfE Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice.
- To employ an experienced SENDCo — or train an existing member of staff — to lead on the care and assessment of children with special needs.
- To assess each child's specific needs and adapt our facilities accordingly.
- To liaise with other professionals and seek advice, support and training to enhance a child's learning and development, with prior consent from parents and carers.
- To ensure all children are treated as equals and encouraged to participate in every aspect of the nursery day.
- To promote positive images of those with special needs wherever possible.
- To work in partnership with parents and carers in meeting each child's individual needs — recognising them as their child's first educator.
- To monitor and review our practice and provision regularly and make any necessary adjustments.
How We Deliver SEND Support
The following methods underpin how we ensure every child with SEND receives the best possible care and support at Tiny Toez:
- Provision for children with SEN/disabilities is the responsibility of all members of staff — not just the SENDCo.
- Our admissions policy is inclusive and ensures equality of access and opportunity for all children.
- Our physical environment and activities are adapted to be suitable for children with disabilities, promoting confidence and independence whilst maintaining health and safety.
- We take children's wishes and opinions into account according to their age and capabilities, incorporating these into assessment and planning.
- We actively promote positive images of people with disabilities through displays, equipment and toys throughout our settings.
- We provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all children with SEN/disabilities, differentiated to meet individual needs and abilities.
- We use a system of planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reviewing each child's Support Plans and EYFS progress.
- We provide the resources needed to fully implement our SEND policy.
- We maintain a high level of confidentiality, ensuring all children's information is kept securely and appropriately.
- We ensure full transfer of records between settings when a child moves, with prior consent from parents and carers.
- We are committed to supporting our staff in accessing relevant training to build the skills needed to cater for each child's individual needs.
- We monitor and review this policy annually.
Working with Parents & Carers
We believe that parents and carers are a child's first and most important educator. Our partnership with families is central to everything we do for children with SEND.
- We are committed to creating and maintaining a positive partnership with parents and carers, welcoming their involvement, knowledge and expertise at every stage.
- We discuss each child and their progress with parents and carers at the start and end of each session, as well as during pre-arranged meetings.
- We provide parents and carers with information on sources of independent advice and support.

Staffordshire County Council have updated their flowchart for childcare funding options, making it much easier to see what support you might be entitled to! 👶✨
Whether you’re looking into funded hours for working parents (from 9 months to 4 years old), universal 15 hours for 3–4 year olds, or Think2 funding, here is how to check your eligibility and claim:
How to Claim Your Funding:
1️⃣ Check what you can get: Visit the government’s Childcare Choices website (childcarechoices.gov.uk) or Staffordshire County Council’s childcare page to view the new flowchart.
2️⃣ Apply for your code: If applying for Working Parent Entitlement or Think2 funding, complete your application online to receive your unique eligibility code.
3️⃣ Take your code to your childcare provider: Give your code, along with your National Insurance number and child’s date of birth, to your nursery, pre-school, or childminder so they can verify it.
4️⃣ Reconfirm every 3 months: Don't forget—if you're on the Working Parent Entitlement, you must reconfirm your details via your online account every 3 months to keep your funding active! 🗓️

🍂🌿 Autumn Adventures at Tividale Park! 🌿🍂
Our pre-school children had a wonderful autumn adventure. We wrapped up warm and headed out on an exciting autumn hunt to explore what nature had to offer. 🍁
They enjoyed searching high and low for colourful leaves, twigs, conkers and pinecones 🌰🍂🌿, collecting lots of wonderful natural treasures to bring back to nursery.
We’ll be using our finds in our loose parts play, mark making, art and craft activities, giving the children opportunities to explore, create and use their imaginations with natural resources. 🎨✨

The new nursery manager has been an absolute breath of fresh air. Since taking over, their fresh leadership, approachable nature, and clear vision have made a noticeable difference across the entire setting. Communication with management is warmer, more transparent, and proactive, making us as parents feel completely supported and involved.
The dedicated practitioner team continues to excel under this renewed direction. The room environments are engaging, organised, and nurturing, with activities carefully tailored to each child's individual needs. Overall a fantastic nursery, he skips into the nursery and looks forward to every day he goes there, which as a parent is the most important thing. The nursery staff have been excellent from when he was 12 months old to now 3 years old in developing his life skills, vocabulary, learning ability etc.
The classrooms are large with plenty of things for the children to do and the playgrounds are also very good.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Tiny Toez.

15 Hours Funded Childcare
Families in England with children aged 3 to 4 years can access 15 hours of funded childcare per week during term time.
30 Hours Funded Childcare
Eligible working families may be able to access up to 30 hours of funded childcare for children aged 9 months to 4 years.
Help with Childcare Costs
You may be able to reduce childcare costs through Tax-Free Childcare or claim back up to 85% through Universal Credit.
