Packed Lunches Policy
At Tiny Toez we promote healthy eating and oral health across all of our menus and snacks — and this extends to packed lunches brought from home. Where we offer the packed lunch option, contents must comply with our food policies to keep every child healthy and safe.
Our Packed Lunch Rules
Packed lunches must contain healthy foods that also support good oral health. A staff member will check every packed lunch before it is given to children at mealtimes.
If a packed lunch is deemed unhealthy or non-compliant with our policies, it will not be served. A nursery lunch will be provided instead and a lunch charge added to your child's account.
Packed lunches must arrive in a cool bag with an ice pack or cool pack inside to keep food fresh and safe.
Any uneaten items will be disposed of after each mealtime so that food is not left in lunchboxes for the rest of the session.
Milk or water is provided at mealtimes — there is no need to include any drinks from home.
Packed lunches must be cold food only. We are unable to heat up any meals or foods provided in packed lunches.
What to Include
The following foods are suitable and encouraged for packed lunches at Tiny Toez:
- Sandwiches, wraps, bagels, pittas or crackers (with meat or cheese)

How Much Food Should I Provide?
Every child is different, but the following general calorie guidance may help when planning your child's packed lunch:
750–900 calories per day in total, with 400–500 calories coming from milk.
Generally 1,000–1,400 calories per day as they become more active.
Typically 1,200–1,400 calories per day.
Our nursery team are happy to provide guidance on portion sizes. For further information visit the NHS Eatwell Guide or henry.org.uk.
This policy is used in conjunction with our Oral Health Policy and Food and Drink Policy.

Kind words from our Tiny Toez families
Real feedback from parents helps new families feel confident when choosing the right nursery.
Special shout out to Jackie who had both our babies from early on. Sophie, Jon, Moo and Ro x
Overall a fantastic nursery, he skips into the nursery and looks forward to every day he goes there, which as a parent is the most important thing. The nursery staff have been excellent from when he was 12 months old to now 3 years old in developing his life skills, vocabulary, learning ability etc.
The classrooms are large with plenty of things for the children to do and the playgrounds are also very good.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Tiny Toez.
